The Improvisatore (2025)
Written as part of Elon University's Musical Theatre Writing course taught by Chris Rayis; The Improvisatore had its first staged reading in December 2025.
The Improvisatore is a musical loosely based on the semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen. It follows an improvising storyteller during his travels through Italy and his rise to success. The structure of the full musical will consist of four vignettes focusing on each of the main locations during our main character's travels and where the young author found inspiration for some of his most famous stories. This presentation was the first of those four.
